If you are looking to get started in OSRIC then this is a good place to start.
If you want to learn the basics and the thought of picking up the massive OSRIC tome is too much, then this is also a good place to start.

That was the first thing that struck me. "Hang on that's the Book of Lairs..."
It says "cover/back artwork is public domain". Since when is Larry Elmore's art public domain? Weird.

I am not happy about this to be honest.
I am getting less and less happy about this all the time now.
I've been doing a bit of reading on the Knights&Knaves board and, apart from this "Players [sic] Reference", there's another "Player's Guide" in development and there's a bit of friction between the two branches.
