Turning off Anonymous Posts for a while

I am turning off anonymous comments for a bit.

I have too much spam and too many people wanting to use my blog as a place to snipe at others from behind a veil.

I do not like to or want to delete comments. But I also don't have much of a choice here.

'Bout time...that has been going on way too long here.

Hey there is a character that I'm dying to see put together... :)

You don't have anything to feel bad about. Your blog is your own private preserve. It's a privilege to add our own content to your site, not a right, thus you can set any rules for posting that you deem in the best interest of your web site. Those who previously were abusing this privilege are welcome to misbehave elsewhere. More blog owners should follow your lead.

Your blog, your rules.

For myself, I've deleted and will continue to delete comments from bloggers who are just there to promote their own blog and ad sense crap.

They post a comment along the lines of, Great post. Following. Check me out at blagh blagh.

Nope, not interested in those folks.

I don't delete honest posts. While it might be my blog, I want a place where people want to contribute and know that I Am not going to delete their posts if I don't agree with them.

Anonymous spam posts I can ignore and they don't count. People posting anonymously with the sole purpose of attacking another poster though is different. I will delete those.

I agree with that, and don't delete honest posts either. But when someone comes on my blog with an icon of a naked chick, joins and then posts back to their ad filled blog, they gotta go.

I'm not running an ad agency and I'm not interested in those kinds of promotional comments.

PS: I've not had anyone attack another blogger on my page, but if I did, they'd be gone as well.
