So Mongoose is planning on ending their run of RuneQuest II.

They are keeping the ruleset and publishing it under the name "Wayfarer".
Two things come to mind.
1. Don't we already have a FRPG call Wayfarers?, http://yeoldegamingcompanye.com/wayfarersmain.htm
2. Doesn't "Wayfarer" sound a bit like "Pathfinder"?
I have a love-hate relationship with Mongoose and no dogs in this race, so I am just an observers.

First thing that popped into my head when I read the word "Wayfarer" was "Pathfinder."
I've never had a chance to play any version of RQ, so I don't have a dog in this race either, but it does seem like a cheap ploy to try to ride on Pathfinder's coat-tails.
RuneQuest (Chaosium's, back in the 80's) taught me about setting / game system integration. I've really enjoyed the system, if not Glorantha itself.
They've so many other games published using this ruleset, they couldn't just pitch it over the fence. However, the name is a little . . . curious. I enjoyed the fact that the MRQ2 rules weren't tied explicitly to Glorantha. Unfortunately, the investment required to get into that setting kept their support material for this nice game from selling all that well.
In an era when gamers are having to birth their own children to expand their dwindling numbers, having a niche game is a suicide-move. I cannot understand how Issaries, Inc. has kept afloat all these years.
Best of luck to them!
Wonder if this means they are tying it to a setting then.
