Sparlock The Warrior Wizard!

And now for something completely different.

It is no secret I am an atheist.  In truth I am pretty much an anti-theist.  So yeah I mostly play witches and paladins in my D&D games.

It should also then come as no surprise I find the following so damn funny and not for any of the reasons the group that produced it, The Jehovah Witness', wanted me too.  Yeah I know, Gary Gygax was a Jehovah Witness, but he was "disfellowshiped".  Not because of D&D but his hair was too long.  Or so says the internet.

Thanks for crushing the imagination of a child you douchebag.

Anyway read more here:

Some messed up shit right there in that video, man. Gave me flashbacks from my own strict Baptist childhood, which included garbage just like this. There are so many ways this sort of thing is scary. Kids don't know something is evil unless we fuck their heads up with fear of evil. How about we just teach them to be good people and not to live in fear? God doesn't give a shit about what toys your kids play with, I am pretty sure about that.

P.S. lest someone think i am naive, one must teach children to be cautious as well as good people, to prepare them for encounters with folks who may not be similarly trained... i. e. Someone indoctrinated into the shit in that video.

I bet Sparlock's hat is magical as well. Maybe a Cap of the Free Thinker to balance the lack of such in the cartoon?

Na. It's just an awesome hat. ;)

Shouldn't you have statted this for Tunnels & Trolls?

It actually has Warrior-Wizard as a class.

The difference between them and us is we know our books are fantasy, we don't shove them down people's throats, and we get joy out of using them to open minds instead of close them. I debated putting some atheist stuff on my blog, and I am glad to see you set the precedent.

Game on!

I actually have my own Atheism blog over at http://freedomofnonbelief.blogspot.com/.

Hoo wee!
So as a Methodist we believe in Satan and I'm told he's a bad dude But I'm also told he is smart, ambitionous, clever; you know, like a mastermind or something. Video's like this just seem to be an insult to the Judeo-Christian End Boss's intellegence, you know. Surely his infernal majesty has better plans to destory humanity than some commericallized fad toy.

Personally, I think he's doing a much better job manipulating religions across the world into doing his work, and they're the best subcontractors any demiurge could have.

My kids will play with all kinds of hyper-commercial detritus i'm sure, and I don't think anyone is goign to have beef with it, unless I step on it.

Great write up by the way. I might use him, and have him wanted by the church for selling books about hsi adventures to children across the realms (and trademarking his outfit).

Sorry to be commenting on such an old post, but I wanted to point out that the action figure in the still looks almost EXACTLY like a modification of the Gundam model "Beargguy". http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-YVKmRTGuUEw/VHh71oVJRfI/AAAAAAAH2io/J_Nh8eBSTHc/s1600/6d1441b9.jpg

Not sure who got the idea to rip off an actual, fairly obscure toy for their child-brainwashing video, but when I saw that still picture I did a double-take.
