Gen Con updates

Gen Con badges bought.
Hotel booked.  More expensive than last year, but not undo-able.

The big issue this year is my Ghosts of Albion game.
As in I am not going to be running any.

I might do a pick up game, that I would announce here.

It basically boils down to me not having enough time to work out a new adventure.  That and my kids are older and they want to play in more games with their dad.

So this year I am looking forward to playing more and trying out a bunch of new games.

Very cool, I just picked up my badge too. I'm also running my first con games this year. Any advice?

When running your games at a con make sure you are ready for your players to completely go off the path you have. Con adventures need to be fast, get in and get done in 3 hours. Often times 1st time game masters rely on certain things occurring. Well that may not happen with a group of strangers. So make plans on what you can do if the "go off script".

Think about how you can keep the action flowing and how to keep the story on track while still allowing the players to do what they want.

Know your adventure upside down, backwards and left to right. You can be prepared then in case something happens that you didn't think about.

Lastly, use "rulings" and not "rules" keep the action going and the players will have a good time.

I'm going too. I'm looking forward to getting the chance to meet some folks I only know from the virtual world.

Anyone know of a way/place for us OSR grognards to coordinate meet-ups at Gencon?

DO, this is right. We should make sure there is some sort of OSR-Blogger meet up.
