Games Plus Fall 2026 Auction Haul

Went to the Games Plus Auction this past week. I was not expecting to pick up much, which naturally means I bought a lot.

Some of that belongs to my oldest kid. He grabbed the Dune games, the magnetic tiles, the cookbook (natch), and the monster books. I am going to give Savage Worlds another try.

I picked up Dark Age Vampire for us both, he has been wanting to try it out more.

But the real surprise in the lot was the game Fledge Witch.

Described as a non-combative, cozy Japanese RPG, it is about creating apprentice witches who try to impress their teacher, an older witch. Already, I am thinking of Elown, Ainsling, and the rest of my West Haven coven with Larina as the teacher.

I ended up with what can only be described as the "deluxe set," possibly a Kickstarter exclusive. ETA: It looks like this is the $80 version.

It came in s very sturdy box, with dice, a nice-looking rulebook, a notebook to put spells in, a collapsible dice tray, and some signed art.

It is on DriveThruRPG for the PDFs, but that is about how much I got if for at the auction. So yeah, it was a steal. I did grab some character sheets. I printed two pages per page in landscape, and they fit into the box. I can have multiple apprentices and multiple teacher witches.

Though, knowing the group I have here on Sundays, they will decide the best way to impress their teacher is by sabotaging the other students.

Still, it looks like it could be fun!

Auction Scores Tuesady

Last week was the semi-annual Game Plus auction in Mount Prospect, IL.

The RPG auction used to be huge and take up most of the day on Saturday. Now it is on Friday night and is done in a few hours. Board games now dominate the weekend.

But that doesn't mean there weren't so good choices to be had. I went in looking for some Star Wars books for my oldest, but came home with just three new games for myself.

That is a brand new Runequest starter set, still in shrink. A brand new Dragonbane, also still in shrink. And an older, but still like new, Basic Set of The Dark Eye RPG.

Take home price? $42 for all of them.

I am pretty happy with them all to be honest. Dragonbane looks awesome. And my oldest has wanted a fantasy game that uses the BRP system for a bit now.

I think given this. I am going to create a Duck/Mallard character for both Dragonbane and Runequest.

And I think I know exactly what character I want to do.

Behold THE WIZARD!

But maybe more this vibe.

Now for a good name.

Games Plus Fall Auction

I have mentioned my Favorite Local Game Store, Games Plus, many times here.

They have a games auction twice a year, in October and in March.

This year they are looking for some advice on how to run their October auction.

While COVID cases are slightly down in Illinois, Cook County has seen some minor increases.  The state is generally going in the right direction, but things could change if people lose vigilance.

This game auction is often the source of all my rare and wonderful items I find.

Why am I bringing this up to you all?  Well, one of the options includes a virtual auction that would allow you to bid from anywhere.   While I have absolutely no desire to have all the gamers that follow me bid against me, one of these options opens the auction up to people that have never been able to take advantage of the joy that is a Games Plus game auction.

So let them know what you think if you would like to take advantage of this.
