October Movie Challenge: Eternal Evil / The Blue Man (1985)

Eternal Evil / The Blue Man (1985)
I would be remiss if I didn't watch some more psychic-phenomena movies. And Eternal Evil, aka The Blue Man, lets me dip into some Astral Projection and Reincarnation. I just wish it had been a little better.

Eternal Evil / The Blue Man (1985)

Paul Sharpe is a successful director of television commercials living in Montreal with his wife and son. He has a nice house, a good job, and what appears to be a comfortable life. He is also deeply dissatisfied with all of it. He is married and has a kid.

Paul becomes involved with a mysterious woman named Janus, played by Karen Black, who teaches him how to leave his body through astral projection. At first, the experience seems liberating. Paul can travel outside himself, move invisibly through the world, and escape the ordinary life he finds so frustrating.

Then people around him begin dying.

There is a lot happening here, and it looks like Paul is doing the killing, but instead, it is our psychic vampires who are preying on others to take over their bodies.

I like some of these ideas, and Karen Black is always fun, but it just wasn't put together in an interesting way. I wanted psychics and astral projection, and I got all that, including some psychic vampires. I should have been happier, but mostly I was a little bored.
